Port Hidor

Port Hidor was a five-part single-player Gears of War level built by four students over two weeks. I designed the overall layout, built sections two through four, handled their Kismet scripting, and helped polish the first and final sections.

The Player’s Journey

Marcus arrives in Port Hidor to meet Dom and search for the missing Carmine. The route leads through hostile streets toward Carmine’s last known location, then ends at the harbor with a defensive encounter while the group waits for a helicopter.

Building a Longer Experience

Streaming volumes loaded and unloaded sections as players moved through the level. Players outside the development team took roughly thirty to forty- five minutes to finish it. Compared with my shorter solo maps, this project added the challenge of maintaining a coherent route while dividing construction across four people and a two-week schedule.
