Floating Castle
I led a DePaul student team in building Floating Castle, an Unreal Tournament 3 mod made over ten weeks. One team defended a castle’s core while the other worked through its defenses to destroy it. My work combined level design, Kismet scripting, and team coordination.
Giving Defenders a Reason to Move
Defenders could collect resources to strengthen their core and base, but many of those resources were on islands outside the castle. That created a decision about when to leave the objective and where to commit players. The defensive role involved more than holding a safe position.
Building and Leading the Project
I created the level, handled all of its Kismet scripting, and coordinated the team’s effort and direction. Looking back, this project brought together two parts of the work I would continue to enjoy: building gameplay directly and helping a team deliver it.
