Clockwork Crusade
I worked as lead designer and Photoshop artist on Clockwork Crusade, a board game made with four other DePaul students for Night Light Unplugged. We had three weeks to build a complete game around the theme of portals, which became a resource-driven way to bring units onto the battlefield.
A Modular Strategy Game
Clockwork Crusade combined territorial control with tactical unit combat on a modular hex board. Its 32 board pieces let players adjust the map for two to six players and the time they wanted to spend playing.
From Rules to Physical Pieces
My work covered the game’s rules and physical artwork. The short schedule meant committing to a manageable design and producing the pieces needed to test and play it. Looking back, it was a useful exercise in bringing a rules system all the way to the table.
